If you are looking for jobs in the construction industry, you need a license to enter construction sites. This license is obtained by completing what is known as General Construction Induction Training (GCIT) in Queensland.
The training maps to the nationally recognised, accredited unit of competency CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (supersedes and equivalent to CPCCOHS1001A - Work safely in the construction industry).
The training must be completed in a classroom with a registered training organisation (RTO). Once you complete the course, you will be issued with both a Statement of Attainment (certificate) and a Queensland White Card (license). While the course used to be available online in Queensland (self-paced training through a learning portal), this changed in 2019 due to regulatory updates by WorkSafe Queensland.
Queensland White Card |
While your White Card is issued by WorkSafe Queensland, White Cards are nationally recognised and you'll be able to work anywhere in Australia.
