Queensland White Card course

If you are looking for jobs in the construction industry, you need a license to enter construction sites. This license is obtained by completing what is known as General Construction Induction Training (GCIT) in Queensland.

The training maps to the nationally recognised, accredited unit of competency CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (supersedes and equivalent to CPCCOHS1001A - Work safely in the construction industry).

The training must be completed in a classroom with a registered training organisation (RTO). Once you complete the course, you will be issued with both a Statement of Attainment (certificate) and a Queensland White Card (license). While the course used to be available online in Queensland (self-paced training through a learning portal), this changed in 2019 due to regulatory updates by WorkSafe Queensland.

Queensland White Card

While your White Card is issued by WorkSafe Queensland, White Cards are nationally recognised and you'll be able to work anywhere in Australia.

Booking a course

We are an RTO specialising in White Card courses in South East Queensland, with training centres in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. You can book your course through this website by filling out a booking form. Simply select the training location, date and time that suits best to book the course. In addition to our regular training locations, training can also be organised onsite for group bookings.

The White Card course is a half-day course and runs for just over 4h.

Course content

The course will cover a range of safety topics that anyone should be aware of prior to entering construction sites. Topics include:
  • regulation & legislation
  • identifying hazards and measures for controlling risks
  • the usage of PPE on construction sites

Requirements

As induction training, White Card courses have no academic entry requirements. You don't need previous experience or qualifications to sign up for the course. You must however have sufficient Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (AQF level 1).
Additionally, you must bring your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and 3 forms of ID, with at least one photo ID.
You can create USIs for free here.
The full ID requirements can be viewed here.
