What is a White Card?
A White Card (formerly also known as a Blue Card) is an induction course regarding safety on construction sites. Anyone wishing to enter a construction site in Australia is required to hold a valid White Card in their name. The White Card course aims keep workers, contractors or anyone else on construction sites safe by providing safety training on topics such as:- Working at height
- Moving objects
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Noise
- Hand arm vibration syndrome
- Material and manual handling
- Collapsing trenches
- Asbestos
- Electricity
- Airborne fibres and materials
- UV from the sun and reflective surfaces

Personal Protective Equipment
The course also teaches about the various PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that is commonly used on construction sites. The main ones are:
- Hard hat
- Retro reflective vest
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection

It should be noted that the White Card course used to be available online. In 2019 however, the government changed the requirements and all White Card training has to be conducted face-to-face.
